Lecturer in Education Studies
My career in education started in 1998. I have taught English Language both in the Maldives and in the UK. I joined Birmingham City University in January 2019 as an Education Studies Lecturer after 20 years of service in the British and international Further Education sector. I’m also one of the founding members and a voluntary director of Maldives Research.
My doctoral research was completed (Doctor of Education) in 2017 at University of Warwick. My current research focuses on educational governance; teachers’ and academics’ roles in educational governance. I am also interested in conducting research in educational governance within an international development context.
In the Higher Education sector, I have experience in supporting and supervising PhD students; teaching and leading modules in Education Studies and Linguistics; conducting international and national research in education; and reviewing UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) social science research (ESRC) bids proposing to explore contemporary issues in education.
